On Isla Mujeres, we don’t just celebrate; we celebrate in style! The traditional Día de los Muertos is not just a two-day affair here, it’s a four, five or six night festival blending Mexican tradition, Mayan mystique, Catholic reverence, and a sprinkle of Halloween mischief.
The magic usually begins at the end of October and finishes with a show-stopping parade of Catrinas and Catrines on November 2nd. Each night of the festival Isla pays tribute to the many Day of the Dead traditions of Mexico with dance and music performances from both visiting artists and Isla’s own children, teens, and adults.
Whether dressed in the night’s theme of Yucatan finery and classic Catrina face or rocking a witch’s hat on the 31st, it’s all about having a blast and honoring those who’ve danced ahead to the big party in the sky.
